Budget piles it on for taxpayers
Saturday's paper had an article describing the state budget as "who wins, who loses."
This is what our political system has come to. Government officials deciding "who wins, who loses." This is how they want to balance our budget; tax the rich, tax the phones, tax the boat owners, tax the smokers, tax capital gains. Aren't we taxed enough already in this state?
Gov. Doyle claims the budget deal protected the middle class. So often politicians don't call it a tax, they're just raising "fees." What's the difference? The money still comes from us and goes to them.
When a family can't pay its bills, does the husband or wifesay, "Maybe I should get another job to bring in more money?"
Most families are too busy the way it is. We look for places where we can save money by doing without certain things. Would our government just once look to see where they can save money instead of always turning to us taxpayers for more fees to balance the budget.
Thank you Sen. Fitzgerald and Rep. Fitzgerald for standing up for the taxpayers of this state.
