Petri hearing enlightening
I was very pleased with the Town Hall Meeting held with Congressman Petri in Horicon recently.
Though there were some differing views on a few issues, everyone was polite and gracious.
Rep. Petri was applauded at one point for his vote against the cap and trade. He listened intently to his constituents’ questions and concerns about the "rushing" of the health care reform bill through and the fear of some of its contents.
A woman shared one reason medical costs keep rising. Carol Plato, director of the Martin Medical Center in Florida, was quoted from her website, which can be viewed at: http://www.wikio.com/themes/Carol+Plato. Plato explains the costs involved in continuing to treat illegal aliens at the taxpaper's expense.
Another woman echoed my sentiments when she spoke about how good it was to have the freedom to still be able to voice our opinion in this country, and how local Wisconsintes had gathered to learn and share.
If you haven't attended a town hall meeting, tea party, or just contacted your legislators about your concerns, I urge you to do so.
It's still the American thing to do!

Why give liberalism a bad name?
Winston Churchill is reported to have said: “Liberalism is not socialism, and never will be. Socialism seeks to pull down wealth, Liberalism seeks to raise up poverty …. Socialism would kill enterprise, liberalism would rescue enterprise from the trammels of privilege and preference.”
Today liberalism is given a name that is related to socialism. How these two got confused I'll never know.
Aldo Leopold is to have said: "A thing is right when it tends to preserve the integrity, stability, and beauty of the biotic (of or related to life) community. It is wrong when it tends otherwise."
Politicians take note, especially the party of no and the blue dogs.
