Wisconsin is lucky to have Russ Feingold as our senator. Russ actually reads legislation before he votes on it. He works with both Republican and Democratic senators to sponsor bills that serve Wisconsin and the nation. He believes that it is possible to control wasteful spending. In that regard, he "walks the walk." Did you know that Russ does not accept automatic pay raises? When he is given an automatic pay raise, he writes a check back to the U.S. Treasury. And he was one of only three Democratic senators to vote against the enormous omnibus spending bill last December. His reason: the bill was full of wasteful earmarks. Sen. Feingold continues to work for elimination of earmarks Earmarks are the tactic that elected politicians use to get their pet projects funded, by tucking them into larger bills. According to the non-partisan group Taxpayers for Common Sense, Russ is our "Taxpayer Guardian" in the Senate. I’m betting that he will be carefully examining President Obama’s new proposed budget for wasteful spending. @ — Vivian Levensohn Hustisford
