On Sept. 16, I, a Vietnam vet along with my son, had the privilege to accompany many of my fellow veterans on the Badger Honor Flight to our nation’s capital. From the moment we arrived at Dane County Airport until returning home we were truly amazed as to how organized the day turned out. Everyone was so kind and helpful.

When arriving in Washington, D.C., we were speechless seeing the beautiful memorials, watching the program at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and having the innumerable amount of folks honor us at the airport as well as throughout the day’s events. Everything was extremely overwhelming as well as humbling.

The most touching though was coming back to Wisconsin and being welcomed by our families and friends. The music, the clapping, cheering, posters, waving of our flag, hugs and kisses, oh my how does one ever express the feeling of really coming home with so many memories of where we were and what had transpired in years gone by?

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and if there is anything that I can help with so that others may take part in this experience, please contact me without hesitation.
