The Thirsty Beaver is a bar on Madison Street nestled among residential property overlooking the lake. Tavern ownership changed in 2014 and thereafter neighbors have been plagued by amplified music now heard across the lake.
The city has turned a deaf ear to numerous noise complaints. Citizen health and comfort is being subordinated to a for-profit business that has ties to Alderman Dave Hansen.
Residential property values on Madison Street already suffer from terrible zoning and no planning. Now with our city government failing to protect the health and welfare of its citizens, Beaver Dam can assure us of plummeting property values and deleterious health effects.
Noise pollution is a threat to public health and according to scientists "can induce hearing impairment, hypertension and ischemic heart disease, annoyance, sleep disturbance, and decreased school performance." There is no time that is acceptable for any tavern to broadcast noise. The language of our code has been used throughout the country and upheld in the courts. It is sufficient for police to enforce immediately. Claiming otherwise is subterfuge and gives the appearance of corruption.
