Cambria-Friesland junior Arianna Wiersma, back, was named the Northern Trailways Player of the Year this past season.
Cambria-Friesland junior Arianna Wiersma led the Northern Trailways in kills per game and was named the 2009 volleyball Player of the Year as a result.
Wiersma averaged 5.3 kills per set in league play. She also finished fourth in digs with an average of 2.9 each set.
Central Wisconsin Christian senior Anna Hofman joined Wiersma on the first team.
The Crusaders also placed two seniors, Alyssa De Young and Jaimie Kok, on the second team. They were joined on that list by C-F junior Kayla Wiersma, Randolph senior Megan Pickhardt and Markesan junior Angela Brown.
Pickhardt tied for fourth in kills per set at 3.4. Brown was the league leader in digs (3.2/set) while Kayla Wiersma was second in the North with assists (8.1/set).
Randolph sophomore Myriel Werner and Markesan senior Rea Rooney were both named honorable mention. Werner tied Pickhardt for fourth in the league in kills per set (3.4).
In the Southern Division, the league-leading dig total put up by Dodgeland junior Samantha Schultz placed her on the first team. She finished with 113 digs in league play for 5.4 each set.
She had 36 more digs than the next player and averaged over two digs more each set.
Dodgeland senior Samantha Schultz was tied for second in the league in kills (2.3/set) but settled for a berth on the second team. She was joined by Fall River freshman Hailey Koch and Hustisford junior Brandi Peltier.
