Dodgeland's Ray Canales was first team all-Large Division as a running back in 2009.
Dodgeland senior running back Ray Canales was joined by four teammates as first team all-Large Trailways football players for the 2009 season.
Canales finished second in Large rushing with 975 yards despite playing in just six of seven league games. Paving a path for Canales were senior offensive linemen Quinn Pieper and Josh Soldner, who made the first team.
Also tabbed as first-teamers for Dodgeland senior outside linebacker Matt Weinheimer and junior defensive lineman Brian Daane.
Canales was third in the league in yards per game with 162.5. He scored 13 touchdowns and added two 2-point conversions for a total of 82 points, third among Large players.
Weinheimer finished with 42 solo tackles and 44 assists for 86 total tackles, ranking him third in the Large. He averaged 12.3 tackles per game and was tied for fourth in interceptions with three.
Daane tied for the third in sacks with eight. Canales and second team defensive back Damian Bruhn tied for third in interceptions with four.
Senior Mark Wolfram completed half of his 72 passes and was third with 72.6 passing yards per game, which was good enough for the second team. His average of 34.9 yards per punt landed him on the second team as a punter.
Soldner was also a second team pick as an outside linebacker.
Markesan’s second-team contingent was led by junior Nick Martinez, who made the list as a running back and an outside linebacker. He was joined by junior tight end Joe Quade, who was fourth in catches with 17 for a total of 201 yards (11.8 yards per catch).
Junior offensive lineman Travis Severson made the second team for the Hornets. Chad Kirst was a second-teamer as a defensive back while sophomore Cameron Anderson made the list as a special teams player.
