CAMBRIDGE — Running back Anthony Resnick was a one-man wrecking crew for Cambridge on Friday night.
The 170-pound junior rushed for four touchdowns to spark the Blue Jays to a 36-6 nonconference victory over Columbus on Friday night.
Cambridge, and Resnick, did the bulk of their damage in the second quarter, needing only three plays from scrimmage to score all three touchdowns.
Resnick put Cambridge (2-1) on the board with a 34-yard TD run at the 9:19 mark in the second quarter.
On the first play of their next possession, Resnick raced 87 yards for the score and a 13-0 lead.
Columbus (0-3) bounced back when sophomore quarterback Bryant Baker hit senior end Dan Hayes with a 17-yard scoring strike with 56 seconds remaining in the first half.
The Blue Jay weren't content with a 13-6 lead, however.
With 36 seconds to play in the half, junior quarterback Shane Leadholm, again on the first play from scrimmage, hit senior receiver Pat Oates with a 64-yard TD, giving Cambridge a 20-7 advantage.
The Blue Jays used a safety to go up 22-6 with 6:36 remaining in the third quarter and then Resnick added his third touchdown on a five-yard run with 3:45 to play in the third. His final score came from three yards out with 9:32 remaining in the game.
He finished the game with 186 yards rushing on 16 carries with 134 of those yards coming in the second quarter.
He also added four PATs.
Hayes finished the night with four catches, for a total of 34 yards for the Cards who host Marshall next Friday.
