WEST BEND — After shutting down West Bend West one week earlier, the tables were turned against Beaver Dam Friday night.
Nick Makowski had 209 combined yards of offense for West Bend East as the Suns rolled to a 27-0 Little Ten victory over the Golden Beavers.
"Overall, I thought their team speed was great and our zone scheme couldn't match up to it," BD coach Tim White said. "They scored on their opening drive and put us behind the 8-ball."
Makowski's plunge from 1 yard out gave East a quick 7-0 lead. BD (2-3, 1-2 LTC) tried to tie the score but a 12-play drive stalled out inside the Suns' 25.
Two passing scores from Makowski in the second quarter proved too much for the Golden Beavers to overcome.
"We tried to settle in and pound them with our run game," White said. "We ran 54 plays but couldn't get anything out of it."
Devin Kellenberger led the Golden Beavers with 72 yards on 20 carries. Mitch Aplin added 45 yards on 11 rushes.
East (2-3, 2-1) produced one more score early in the fourth quarter as Mike Wanninger intercepted Mitch Berg and raced 40 yards for the touchdown.
"It really was a match-up issue for us," White said. "They put together a good gameplan and they were ready.
"There is such parity in the league that you have to be ready every week to play."
BD hosts Slinger next Friday night.
