Cross country roundup: Lady Cards 4th at invite

ST. FRANCIS — Mayville's girls cross country team, led by Carissa Schneiter's 13th-place finish, took fourth at the St. Francis Invite Saturday.

Schneiter ran the course in 16 minutes, 3 seconds.

"I thought it was a fast course," Mayville coach Bob Berry said. "We competed very well."

Ericka Schaefer was 27th (16:59) followed by Desiree Danner in 29th (17:05), Carrie Schussler in 37th (17:24) and Kelsey Krueger in 47th (17:44).

On the boys side, Brian Ropel led the Cardinals with a 19th-place run (18:05) followed closely by Brian Emmer in 22nd (18:10). Calvin Franke took 38th (18:25) with Jake Hoard (86th, 20:08) and Eric Case (108th, 23:02) rounding out the scoring.

Mayville took 10th in the boys race.

The Cardinals head to the Slinger Invitational Thursday.

St. Mary's Invitational

MENASHA — David Rosas and Brendan Weinstein broke the 21 minute barrier as the Wayland duo crossed the line together at Saturday's St. Mary's Invitational.

Ashley Nevell led the Wayland girls team.

Wayland heads to the Beaver Dam Invitational Saturday.
