Prep boys soccer: CWC, Columbus draw

By Citizen Staff

WAUPUN — Host Central Wisconsin Christian and Columbus played to a 2-2 boys soccer draw but both teams were beaten by Kohler at Saturday's Crusader Challenge.

The Blue Bombers topped the Crusaders (2-1) and the Cardinals (3-0). All three teams were at least ranked as honorable mention in the latest Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Division 3 poll.

Jeff Schultz scored for Columbus in the fourth minute for the only goal of the first half. CWC would pull even on Nate Miller's blast in the 51st minute and gain the led when Alex Geleynse found Jory Kok for a strike in the 69th minute.

Charlie Calvo would square the match just 21 seconds later for the Cards. Kok's goal off a Lukas Buteyn was the only CWC goal in the loss to Kohler.

CWC (11-3-4) has a key Flyway match at Winnebago Lutheran Academy Tuesday.

Columbus (11-4-2) will host Cambridge/Deerfield in Capitol play the same day.
