Beaver Dam senior Margaret Quincey teamed with Laura Killingsworth to go unbeaten in the Little Ten.

Winning a second straight conference title reaped plenty of rewards for the Beaver Dam girls tennis team.

BD’s undefeated doubles pairing of Laura Killingsworth and Margaret Quincey along with top singles player Allie Chitko were named to the 2009 all-Little Ten first team.

Killingsworth and Quincey — both seniors — each went 7-0 in conference play at No. 1 doubles and 25-7 overall.

“They were a very good, solid doubles team,” BD coach Dave Kalscheur said. “They understood the basic concepts of what we wanted to do.

“It made it much easier for them to handle adversity in matches. You hope for that from your seniors.

Allie Chitko, a junior, was 6-1 in LTC play at No. 1 singles and 24-9 overall. Her most memorable match was a three-hour marathon against Hartford’s Abby Day on Sept. 23. Losing the first set, Chitko rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (6) victory.

Erika Chitko, who was undefeated playing No. 2 singles for most of the season, earned second-team honors in her sophomore campaign.

“Both Allie and Erika are very athletic and competitive,” Kalscheur said.

“Then can move well and refuse to lose. Between the two of them, they were 13-1 as our top two singles players and it gave everyone else on the team confidence.”

BD’s No. 2 pairing of senior Sara Rollins and sophomore Cady Roedl earned second-team honors in doubles, going 6-1.

“When it came down to the end of their matches, they were usually more athletic than the other team,” Kalscheur said. “One of the better all-around tandems in the area.”

Killingsworth and Allie Chitko shared most valuable player honors on the squad while junior Courtney Miller was named most improved.

Andraya Zelle was the team’s top rookie.
