FOND DU LAC — It was a battle of two of the state's best when the Fond du Lac Warbirds/Beaver Dam co-op prep girls hockey team skated against the Green Bay co-op Friday night in an Eastern Shores Conference game at the Blue Line Family Ice Center.

Unfortunately for the home team, Fondy/Beaver Dam couldn’t handle Bay Area’s Katerina Zmova, who had her stick on three goals in her team's 5-1 win.

With the loss, Fondy/Beaver Dam, which is ranked eighth in the state according to the Wisconsin Prep Hockey Top Ten, falls to 10-4 overall and is tied for fourth in the conference at 2-2. Meantime, conference-leading Bay Area, which is ranked 10th, improves to 8-6-3 and 7-1-1.

Hattie Verstegen had the lone goal for Fondy/Beaver Dam, which got 35 saves from goalie Rebecca Avalos.
