From hard rock idol to American Idol, the Dodge County Fair grandstand offers four days of music unmatched in the area and several side stages add variety to the week.
Joe Nichols opens the grandstand shows on Aug. 15. Nichols sings such hits as "Brokenheartsville" and "The Impossible." His debut recording in 2002 "Man with a Memory," had two No. 1 hits and his latest recording "Real Things" will be in stores this month.
Thursday the stage will be turned over to Josh Turner. Turner sings "Would You Go With Me" and his album "Your Man" earned him a spot on the top five best selling country albums of 2006. The South Carolina artist debuted in 2003 with Long Black Train," and album influenced by the music of Hank Williams Sr.
Legendary rock star Alice Cooper will be the Aug. 17 entertainment at the Dodge County Fair. Cooper's career as a rock singer, songwriter and musician has spanned four decades. In addition to hits such as "Eighteen" and "Elected," Cooper hosts a syndicated radio show and is an avid golfer.
Joshua Gracin will perform Saturday night act at the fair. Gracin rose to fame as the fourth-place finalist on the second season of American Idol. Some of Gracin's hit singles were "Stay with Me (Brass Bed)" and "Favorite State of Mind."
All the shows begin at 8 p.m.
The big show on Aug. 29 will be the Demolition Derby at 1 and 6 p.m.
Music also is available on the Radio Park Stage sponsored by WBEV/WXRO, the Polka Pavilion sponsored by WTKM and the Oasis Tent hosted by Live Streams Entertainment.
The Radio Park Stage lineup includes the Silver Dollar Band from 9:15 to 11:30 p.m. Wednesday; Geoff Landon and Wolf Pack from 9:15 to 11:30 p.m. on Thursday; Alexis from 9:15 to 11:30 p.m. on Friday; Cross County Junction from 5 to 8 p.m. and 9:15 to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The Polka Pavilion will feature Brian Brueggen and Friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday; Michael James Dombrowski from 5:30 to 8 p.m.. on Thursday; Bryan O'Donnell from 8:30 to 11 p.m. on Thursday; Vicki Belleville from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday; The Music Venders from 8:30 to 11 p.m. on Friday; Don Peachey from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Saturday; The Revival Band fro 8:30 to 11 p.m. on Saturday; Carol and the Keynotes from noon to 3 p.m. and The Siegmann Family Band from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The Oasis will again feature music videos, requests and trivia with prizes, plus the mechanical bull returns. In addition, there will be live music on Sunday. Breath of Life Band will play from 1 to 2:30 p.m.; Strings of hope from 3 to 4:30 p.m.; and Angry Brits from 5 to 7 p.m.
