Valerie Petrick of Mayville recently completed a two-year Modular Educational Program for Activity Professionals, all the while working full time as activity lead for Beaver Dam Community Hospital's Hillside Manor.
She will go on to become certified as an activity director in December, when she will have accrued 6,000 hours of employment in the activities field. Petrick has been a part-time student while working full time at BDCH for the past nine years, first completing core courses at Moraine Park Technical College before going on to earn the activities director certification.
"Beaver Dam Community Hospital's continuing education benefit for employees has made it possible to pursue this goal," said Petrick. "I could not have done this without the support of my employer, my family, my co-workers, and my friends."
Petrick has worked at BDCH since September of 2000, first as a certified nursing sssistant and for the past two and a half years in the activities department at Hillside Manor. The department plans and coordinates all the activities for the Hillside Manor residents.
