An Illinois man sits jailed on a $2,500 cash bond after police say he stabbed and cut his brother Sunday evening with a shard of broken glass.

Bellwood,, Ill. resident Kelvin L. Harmon, 25, appeared in Sauk County Circuit Court Monday by video from the county jail. He faced a count of felony battery and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property stemming from an incident about 8 p.m. Sunday at the Glacier Canyon Lodge in Lake Delton.

According to court documents, Lake Delton officers were called to the resort after reports of a man being stabbed.

The officer met Harmon’s brother and father outside the resort who said they were on a family vacation. The brother said Harmon had stabbed him in the aftermath of an argument between the two men.

The brother said he went back to their room to get away from Harmon, but his brother came to the room after him. Harmon took a pipe and threw it against the glass door of the room, records state.

The brother let Harmon in where he picked up a glass lamp and said "Do you feel like dying today," the brother told police. Harmon then threw the lamp at his brother, records state.

The brother said he tried to block the lamp with his hand, it fell to the ground and shattered. Harmon then picked up a shard of the lamp and ran at the brother, swinging and stabbing at him with the sharp piece of glass, according to the records. The brother tried to block the attack with his arms and suffered about 10 slashes and stab wounds.

The officer reported several cuts with lengths between a half-inch to two inches on the victim’s arms, records state. The brother said he was able to push Harmon off him and flee the room.

The brother told police Harmon was trying to kill him and "I thought to myself that I’m going to die," records state.

An officer reported going the motel room and finding Harmon vacuuming up broken glass. When the officer asked what had happened, he reported Harmon said it was his fault.

In court Monday, the judge informed Harmon of the charges against him and set a $2,500 bond for his release. Harmon is due back in court July 27.

On Wednesday evening Harmon was still being held at the Sauk County lock up, according to jail staff.
