Dorothy A. Mayer
Dorothy A. "Maca" (McGonigle) Mayer, age 80 of Baraboo, passed away early Friday morning, Nov. 6, 2009 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center.
Dorothy, born on Aug. 17, 1929, was the third of four children born to Leo Patrick and Mary Hanora (McCormick) McGonigle. She was born in Wessington Springs, S.D. The family moved to Ableman, now Rock Springs, and later relocated to Baraboo. She married Albert W. Mayer of Baraboo on March 3, 1949 in Beloit. Together they had six children.
Maca loved collecting Teddy bears and knick knacks, going out to eat and watching the Packers and the Cubs. She will always be remembered for her perfectly coordinated outfits and her spunky personality. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and their families. They were her life and she had a special bond with each of them.
