Clair 'Chip' E. Keylock
Clair "Chip" Edward Keylock, 87, of Baraboo, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at St. Clare Hospital. Clair, the son of Robert Arthur and Mary Edith (Gorst) Keylock, was born on Nov. 21, 1920, in Wonewoc. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army from November 1942 to November 1945, and was awarded the Purple Heart and numerous other medals. Clair was united in marriage to Janet Hill on Nov. 1, 1947, in Baraboo. He had been employed by the Baraboo City Water Department from 1961 until he retired in 1985. Clair was an avid sportsman and thoroughly enjoyed fishing and bow hunting. He once shot a "Pope & Young" buck. He was a member of Baraboo American Legion Post No. 26 and DAV Chapter 8. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Janet Keylock of Baraboo; two sons, Michael E. (Pam Holloway) Keylock of North Freedom and Steven A. (Diane) Keylock of Baraboo; other relatives and friends. Clair was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert; and two sisters, Margaret and Reva. Military graveside services, provided by members of American Legion Post 26 and DAV Chapter 8, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, in Section Q of the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Pam Holloway for her loving care and compassion. Chip was a loving husband and father who will be dearly missed.
