John 'Jack' Halbach
LOUISVILLE, Ohio — John "Jack" William Halbach, age 53, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 in Louisville, Ohio. Born on Aug. 4, 1956 in Baraboo, his parents are Edria L. (Sontag) Halbach and Richard F. Halbach. Jack graduated from Baraboo High School in 1975, having played football, basketball and baseball, as well as Legion ball in the summers. He graduated from UW-La Crosse in Sports Medicine, and later started his own business as a Physical Therapist in La Crosse. Jack enjoyed being a trainer for the La Crosse Catbirds basketball team. He was part of the training team for the University World Games held at Sarajevo, Yugslavia, and also for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary, Canada. He later moved to Wooster, Ohio to work at a Sports Medicine Clinic. Jack loved sports, and continued to be an avid fan of the UW Badgers long after moving to Ohio. A special thank you to the staff at the Louisville Care Center, where Jack spent the last years of his life due to his failing health. He is survived by his two children, Erin Ann Halbach of Chicago, Ill. and Matthew John Halbach of North Canton, Ohio; his mother, Edria Halbach of Baraboo; his brothers, Thomas (Joey Dykstra) Halbach of Mahtomedi, Minn., Andrew (O’Donna Behrandt) Halbach of Westfield, Daniel (Annette Budig) Halbach of Baraboo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his father, Richard Frances Halbach. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held Saturday, Nov 7, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 727 Eighth St., Baraboo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
