Michael Roy Snyder

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Michael Roy Snyder, age 66, of Grand Junction, Colo., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, Colo.

Mike, the son of the late Maynard and Arlene Snyder, was born on March 15, 1943 in Baraboo. He was united in marriage to Louann Bonnell on Oct. 14, 1967 at the First Baptist Church of Baraboo.

He was employed as a tool and die maker, tool engineer and a Christian school principal. In 1980, he founded the non-profit organization, Children for Christ Int., and was also ordained for the ministry. He worked as a full-time Children’s Evangelist from 1996 to 2005. He considered it a privilege to be used by his Lord and Savior to bring children to a saving knowledge of Christ.

Mike is survived by his wife, Louann of Grand Junction; daughter, Becky (Scott) Hendrickson of Grand Junction; sister, Kathy Cortese of Baraboo, step-sister, Evie Waddell of Littleton, Colo.; nephews, Adam Cortese of Camp Lejeune, N.C. and Mark Cortese of Baraboo; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his step-mother, Alta Snyder of Baraboo and brother-in-law, John Cortese of Milwaukee.

Memorial services will be held at Liberty Baptist Church in Grand Junction, Colo. on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 at 4 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom officiated by Pastor Scott Buhrow of Bible Baptist Church in Reedsburg. A memorial fund has been established at Liberty Baptist Church, 448 South Camp Road, Grand Junction, CO 81507.
