Beverly A. Winkelman

Beverly A. Winkelman, age 73 of Baraboo, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 at St. Clare Hospital.

Bev, the daughter of the late Albert A. and Lillian B. (Reinfeldt) Winkelman, was born on May 31, 1936 in Baraboo.

She attended Pewitt’s School through 3rd grade and finished elementary school at Lyon’s School in West Baraboo. She was a 1954 graduate of Baraboo High School and remained active with her Class Reunion Committee. Bev started her career working with Eugene Madalon in Baraboo. She served as his secretary, eventually working her way to office manager, at the Madalon Insurance Agency and Credit Agency. She also worked with Mr. Madalon while he served as an alderman and the mayor of the City of Baraboo. She was later employed by Don-Rick Insurance, Reinkings, and Specially Hers.

Bev was a great cook, had a great sense of humor, and regularly enjoyed Packer football with the Fenster family. She also had an interest in antiques. She was a supporter of the Sauk County Humane Society and cared for several German Shepherds over the years. Anyone who knew Bev would agree that her dogs were her beloved companions and so much more than "pets." She was active at the Baraboo Senior Center where she enjoyed playing Bingo and cards, joining her friends there four days a week. Friends were family for Bev and she to them.

She is survived by several cousins and many dear friends and neighbors.

A memorial service for Bev will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastors Deb and Steve Ohrtman officiating, followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments. Burial will take place in the Rock Hill Cemetery at 1 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Baraboo Senior Center or the Sauk County Humane Society. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
