Helen M. Kapelke

STOUGHTON — Helen M. Kapelke, age 90, of Stoughton, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at HospiceCare in Fitchburg.

She was born in Janesville on July 24, 1919, a daughter of Benjamin and Gertrude (Isaacs) Nettum. Helen graduated from Janesville High School with the Class of 1938. She was united in marriage to Lawrence R. Kapelke of North Freedom on April 15, 1950 in Janesville. They made their home in North Freedom, West Salem, Edgerton and Stoughton. Helen worked at Parker Pen, Janesville; Sysco Foods, Baraboo; and West Salem High School. Upon returning to Stoughton, she volunteered at the Stoughton Senior Center.

Helen is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1986; and by a sister, Margaret Frances Hawthorne of Evansville.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton with the Rev. Mark Lindner officiating.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Following a luncheon at the VFW Hall in Stoughton, burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew’s Church, Janesville; HospiceCare, Madison; the Stoughton Senior Center; or to Skaalen Home, Stoughton. Special thanks to the entire staff of Pod 4 at HospiceCare, Dr. Tong, the staff of Skaalen Home, and to the Rev. Lindner and the Rev. Wentzel.
