Marilyn I. Wegner
TOWN OF SUMMIT — Marilyn I. Wegner (nee Filenius) of the Town of Summit passed away Thursday Nov. 5,2009 at AngelsGrace Hospice. Marilyn was born Dec. 31, 1935 in Watertown to Ben and Irene (Schlesner) Filenius. She was baptized in 1936 and confirmed in her faith April 10, 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farmington, Wis. Marilyn attended High Mound Elementary and Concord Center Elementary School in the town of Concrod. She graduated from Johnson Creek High School in 1953. On Oct. 23, 1955 she married Milton F. Wegner at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They were married for 54 years. Marilyn worked at the Daytime Bakery and Snyder Clothing in Oconomowoc. She later worked at Northwestern Loan in Oconomowoc for 17 years. In 1971 she started work at the Oconomowoc Canning Co. retiring in 1998 after 27 years of employment there. Marilyn was a member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc, a Charter member of the Cooney Riders Snowmobile Club of Oconomowoc and a member of the Oconomowoc Red Hat Club. She was a very active supporter of her husband’s many organizational and club membership activities and business ventures. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Milton and two sons, Randall (Lori nee Pirkel) and their children, Kendall and Molly, all of Sullivan and Kurt (Heather nee Wood) and their children, Karlie and Rachel, all of Baraboo. Also surviving are her cousins, Lorraine (nee Wendt) Baneck of Watertown, and Darlene (nee Filenius) and her husband Joel Weiss of Rosemont, Minn. Further survived by her sister and brothers-in-law, Erline Wegner of Watertown, Mildred (Roger) Kopfer of Ixonia, Dianne (John) Wegner of Jefferson, Franklin (Doris) Wegner of Watertown, Caroline (Raymond) Weimer of Happy Jack, Ariz,, Hubert (Evelyn) Bergman of Watertown and Kenneth Pfeifer of Johnson Creek. Also survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws; sisters-in-law, Ardell (nee Wegner) Pfeifer, Darlene Wegner and Luhelen Bergman. Friends may visit on Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Schmidt & Bartelt Notbohm-Kreutzmann Funeral Home and also on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 818 W. Wisconsin Ave. in Oconomowoc. Final rest at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
