T-Birds slug 12 hits against Sauk
SAUK PRAIRIE — Maybe being no-hit was just what the Baraboo High School softball team needed. On Monday, the Thunderbirds were no-hit, and maybe a little embarrassed, in a 10-0 loss to Monroe. Since then, they played a fine game in a win over Portage on Tuesday and ripped 12 hits while playing errorless ball against Sauk Prairie. Danielle Vander Schaaf went 3-for-4 to lead the T-Birds to a 6-3 win over the Eagles on Wednesday, with Carly Brecka, Sara Olsen, Julia Lumsden and Ayla Jacobsen each poking two hits apiece. Vander Schaaf also started the game on the mound for Baraboo but needed some help from Tiff Stanek to finish out the game. The pitching duo combined to allow four hits and three runs, with all those runs coming in the bottom of the fourth inning. Baraboo scored three runs in the second to take the lead, then added one in the fourth and two in the fifth to bring the game to its final score. Baraboo hosts the Boo Invite, Saturday at Pierce Park. Baraboo 030 120 0 — 6 12 0 Sauk 000 300 0 — 3 4 4
