T-Birds do well in Oregon
OREGON — The Baraboo High School track and field teams both finished near the top of a deep slate of teams at the Tom Mueller Invitational, Friday in Oregon. The BHS boys team took second out of 10 teams in the meet, while the girls team placed fourth out of 13. Lacey Craker continued to consistently well in both her events, winning the shot put with a throw of 38 feet and winning the discus with a toss of 112 feet, 6 inches. She went six inches further than her seeded distance in the discus and was half an inch short of her seed in the shot. The BHS 3,200 relay team of Denise Leaver, Nyomi Defield, Chelsie Lee and Schoenoff won its race in an upset over Fort Atkinson. The Thunderbirds finished in 10:12.93, while Fort Atkinson, seeded six seconds ahead of BHS, finished two seconds behind. Taking third for Baraboo were Michael Kohnert (high jump), Dan Pfaff (200), Alex Petrulis (300 hurdles), three of the four relay teams (800, 1,600 and 3,200).
