The visiting Sauk Prairie Eagles swim team notched nine first-place finishes en route to a 102.5-67.5 over the Baraboo Thunderbirds in a Badger Conference dual meet on Tuesday.
BHS was short-handed seven swimmers due to illness, but coach Lynn Keeling was pleased with her team’s showing.
"If we were full strength I think the meet would have been closer," she said. "But I was real happy with the way we competed given that we had some kids missing."
Though the teams were knotted at 31 points apiece at intermission, the Eagles took gold in all seven of the remaining events.
Highlighting the meet for the T-Birds was its 200-medley relay team (Emily O’Rourke, Gemma Pillsbury, Liz Teasdale, Emily Thompson), which clocked a season-best time of 1:56.82 on their way to first place.
Baraboo’s only other gold medal went to Carly Trotter, who bested the competition in the 200-IM with a time of 2:28.46.
BHS returns to the pool on Thursday in a triangular meet welcoming La Crosse Logan and Central.
