WAUNAKEE —The Waunakee Warriors brought the 2009 season to an end for the Baraboo Thunderbirds volleyball team in Thursday’s Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division I regional semifinal in Waunakee.

The No.-2 seeded Warriors (5-16) beat the No.-15 seeded T-Birds in three games, 25-12, 25-6, 25-16.

"We made a lot of mistakes and dug ourselves into some early holes and didn’t put the ball down," said BHS coach Gabe Sederberg.

Baraboo was held to just eight kills and eight assists on the night.

"We did rebound in the third set and I thought we finished strong," Sederberg said.

BHS finishes the year with an overall record of 5-23.

"With this team it was going to be an up and down year and we were down more than up, but the girls got some experience and played hard."

The T-Birds wave goodbye to seniors Carolyn Statz and Kylie Delmore.
