A group of Columbus women joined more than 750 others recently to attend the 49th Annual Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society Convention in Winston-Salem, N.C. Members from more than 880 Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and Evangelical Lutheran Synod congregations meet annually for mission support, spiritual renewal, motivation and fellowship.
LWMS is women dedicated to serving Jesus by increasing awareness of, interest in and support of the mission outreach of WELS.
The weekend convention, held June 21 to 24, used the theme, “Our God Reigns.” Attendees were provided opportunities to meet missionaries and hear first-hand about the work being done in the United States and world missions. Other highlights of the convention included Bible studies, the presentation of more than $62,000 to WELS Home and World Mission projects and a variety of mission displays.
The 50th Annual LWMS Convention will be held in La Crosse, June 27 to 30, 2013, hosted by the Winona Circuit. The theme is, “Like a Tree Planted by Streams of Water: 50 Years – Growing in Christ.”
