This is the Fourth of July weekend, and it is the time for picnics, parades, and fireworks.

After all, we are celebrating the birth of our nation, and so we are having one huge birthday party. That is how we celebrate the founding of our nation, this United States of America.

We are so blessed to be living in this country where we can celebrate so many things, and it is God to whom we can give our thanks. It is God who created the whole world to be good, and we are recipients of so much goodness here in the United States of America.

And yet, not everything is good. There have been so many shootings and terror acts going on that we wonder if any of us are completely safe. Even our politicians experienced some of that as those shootings took place while they were practicing to take part in a ballgame.

The thing is, we can all be united as we seek to make this nation a better place. We may not all have the same views, but we are all Americans, and we have all been created by God. That is what unites us together.

Most of us are not familiar with the last verse of our national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner.” That last verse says, “And this be our motto: ‘In God is our trust.’” There is no doubt that we need to return to God and put our complete trust in God. That’s what makes us who we are. God bless America.
