The Cardinals Unlimited Archery Team hosted the third annual Cardinal Shootout Feb. 17 at Columbus High School.
The tournament featured teams from eight schools across the state, including Sun Prairie, Portage and Wisconsin Dells. According to Cardinals Unlimited coach Jenn Parchem, more than 360 archers competed in the all-day event. Columbus was well represented with 160 archers from grades fourth through 12.
Saturday’s event was Columbus’ only home tournament of the season. The event was sponsored by the Columbus Target Club, serving as boosters for Cardinals Unlimited.
Parchem said Columbus’ archery club continues to grow every year. It began with about 30 students in 2012 to its current total of 160. Members of the team will compete in state, regional and national tournaments in the coming months.
