The Juneau County Health Department will hold a flu/pneumonia clinic at Elroy Family Medical Center from 3 to 4 p.m. Vaccines will be available: flu for $30 and pneumonia for $45. Fuel assistance applications will be collected at Grace Lutheran Church at 266 Erickson St. in Elroy from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Applicants must bring Social Security numbers for everyone in household, verification of previous three months gross income and fuel and electric costs for Sept. 1 through Aug. 31. The city of Elroy will host a Haunted House at Schultz Park, site of the Elroy Fair, from 6 to 10 p.m both nights for $5 per person. All proceeds will benefit the Elroy Fair. For more information, call (608) 542-0258.

Red Ridge Ranch off Highway 82 east of Mauston will hold the inaugural Pumpkin Queen pagaent as well as the annual costume contest as part of the Annual Country Pumpkin Bash. The Pumpkin Princess competition will include children 3 to 10 years old who compete in the costume contest at 4 p.m. at the ranch, with judging based on the orginality and creativity of costume. The Junior Pumpkin Queen competition will include youth 11 to 17 years old who compete in the Pumpkin Olympics at 1 p.m. at the ranch in addition to the costume contest, with judging based on costume and performance in games. The Pumpkin Queen competition will include adults who compete in the costume contest as well as participating in or volunteering for Pumpkin Bash activities and a pumpkin-carving competition, with judging based equally on all three. The coronation ceremony will be held prior to the start of "Buck-Off Mauston" at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25. The Mauston Room Tax Committee will sponsor the second annual Great Pumpkin Parade as part of the Original Mauston Pumpkin Bash starting at 6 p.m. from Kastner's Lot on the corner of Hickory and La Crosse Street in Mauston. The parade will run through downtown Mauston to Lions' Park. Parade participants should arrive at Kastner's Lot by 5:30 p.m. Registration for walkers, floats and vehicles should be arranged with the committee in advance. The Mauston Pumpkin Dash half marathon/5k race will be held at 8 a.m. starting from the Veteran's Memorial Park in Mauston. The Kids' Spooky Sprint, a short race for children 11 years old and under, will begin from the same location at 1 p.m. Both races require preregistration, with those who register by Oct. 14 guaranteed a T-shirt.
