Bash sign caper may be solved

Police last week nabbed a thief or thieves who took four banners erected to guide visitors to the fourth Original Mauston Pumpkin Bash days before the Oct. 24 event.

But details about the apparent arrest were tough to come by from tight-lipped officials - last week and this.

"We have made a referral to the district attorney's office with respect to the stolen Pumpkin Bash signs in the city of Mauston," Mauston Police Department Chief Mark Messer said Friday.
