Necedah ethanol plant prospers despite the economy

With the uncertainty of the economy during our current recession, along with the high unemployment rates statewide, the town of Necedah boasts a prosperous business in Castle Rock Renewable Fuels, LLC. With Babcock and Brown, Limited (BBL), an Australian investment company, filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings earlier this year, questions have arisen regarding the effect on the Necedah ethanol plant. Chapter 11 is a way for a company to reorganize and set up repayment schedules.
BBL was a property owner in 2006 when Castle Rock Renewable Fuels, LLC, located at N9585 State Highway 80, began. The town of Necedah formed a Community Development Authority at that time to move the business forward.
