Development corporation may face cut from board

The man who leads the Juneau County Economic Development Corp. said last week that a proposed cut to his funding by the county's Board of Supervisors would not make sense.

"We actually bring in a return so they can pay for those [other] services," said Terry Whipple, the corporation's executive director.

Whipple was responding to a suggestion by Juneau County Super-visor Lynn Willard at a public hearing Tues-day on the county's 2010 budget that the board consider cutting as much as $100,000 from the corporation's planned budget of about $188,000.
