Marjorie E. Wojtowicz
Marjorie E. Wojtowicz, 85, of rural Elroy, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at her home. She was born on July 10, 1923, to Clarence and Martha (Slama) Gerken in the Town of Hillsboro, Vernon County.
Marjorie was united in marriage to Robert Wojtowicz on Aug. 29, 1945, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elroy by the Reverend James Sheridan. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2007.
She worked for Arthur Overgaard prior to her marriage, then returned to work again in 1947 and remained working for Overgaard's until the birth of her daughter in 1958. She was treasurer of the Town of Plymouth from 1962 to 1983, and then she did bookkeeping at home. Marge worked for Madden Petro from 1984 to 1990, when she retired.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Anne (Michael) Sears of Nashotah; grandchildren, Staff Sergeant Christopher Sears serving in the United States Air Force and Diana Sears; great-grandchild, Maria Sears; sister, Gleva Weipking of Miami, Fla.; brother, Howard Gerken of Tucson, Ariz.; nieces; and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Robert; she was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Gerken.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elroy with Father Richard Dickman officiating.
