Shirley Mae Curran
Shirley Mae Curran, 78, of Mauston passed away surrounded by her loving family Nov. 15, 2008.
Shirley was born in Cambridge, Wis. on Aug. 6, 1930, and was daughter of Arthur and Dora Overgaard. She graduated from Cambridge High School. She then went on to attend University of Wisconsin- Madison and Madison Business College, majoring in accounting.
Shirley was united in marriage to Judge William R. Curran on April 9, 1953, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She was a proud wife to Judge Curran who served as Juneau County Circuit Judge for 30 years.
She was a volunteer at the Mauston Public Library for 12 years and enjoyed reading, gardening in her rose garden, cooking and baking, as well as spending time with her children and grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed sharing the same birthday with one of her grandchildren as well. She was faithful member to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Survivors include daughter, Mary Louise Pariso of Portage; twin son, Robert J. (Kathy) Curran of Mauston; grandchildren, twins, William Pariso and Joseph Pariso of Portage, twins, Courtney Curran and Kristen Curran of Mauston, Kellie Curran of Mauston, Colleen Pariso of Portage, Christine Pariso of Portage and Matthew Curran of Mauston; also survived by brother-in-law, Ralph Schroeder of Fort Atkinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Dora Overgaard of Mauston; husband, Judge William R. Curran; son, Arthur William Curran; twin son, Richard J. Curran of Freemont, Calif.; brother, Claire Smithback of Camarillo, Calif.; twin sisters, Jean Bickle and Janet Schroeder of Fort Atkinson; and sister, Helen Muehl of Panama City Beach, Fla.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mauston with Father Eric Berns officiating. Burial will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Visitations will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Crandall Funeral Home, Mauston. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or Hatch Public Library, Mauston.
