Daniel J. Simon

Daniel J. Simon, 30, of Mauston, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Dec. 2, 1977, in Reedsburg, the son of Peter A. Jr. and Kristine (Williams) Simon.

Dan was employed in forest procurement and production since the age of 10 years. He loved to play basketball, enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Dan is survived by his father, Peter Jr. (Carol) Simon of Mauston; mother, Kristine Simon of Mauston; brothers and sister, Doug (Heather) Simon of Watertown, Ken Simon of Mauston, Laura Bachim of La Crosse and Pete Simon of Winona, Minn.; nieces and nephews, Garret, Nora, Ella and Ben; maternal grandfather, Robert Williams, Sr. of Baraboo; aunts; uncles; cousins; along with many friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Eileen Williams; and paternal grandparents, Peter Sr. and Lucille Simon.

A Memorial Mass for Daniel J. Simon will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mauston with Monsignor Douglas Duschack officiating.

Friends called on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg where a eulogy for Dan started at 7:30 p.m. followed by the Rosary at 7:45 p.m.

Friends may also call on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
