Lance Schroeder, from Mauston, is among the students from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater who will stage a production of "1959 Pink Thunderbird" at the Barnett Theatre Dec. 5 through Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m., and Dec. 9, at 2 p.m.

"It's a great night of comic theatre. The writing is character and situational based and delivers some spectacular zingers," said director Kymberly Mellen, assistant professor in the Theatre/Dance Department. "If you can relate to small town country life, hanging out on porches and in bars with friends you've had since high school, the restlessness of individuals who have returned from combat; if things you've seen or done prevent sound sleep and weight on your conscience; if petty gossip and jealousy trap you in your circumstances; if you self-medicate rather than thinking of a proactive plan to improve your life - then this is a play you can relate to."

Schroeder, who is studying theatre at UW-Whitewater, serves as understudy for Cletis in the production.
