James W. Schauer, 66, rural Elroy, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at his home on the family farm. He was born July 11, 1944, the son of Gilbert and Julia (Vlasak) Schauer, at the family farm near Elroy, where he grew to adulthood and graduated from Royall High School in 1962.

On Dec. 16, 1995, Jim was united in marriage to Valerie Ott. He has been a lifelong farmer and enjoyed working on the farm.

Survivors include wife, Valerie; step-son, Jesse Gibson (Jena Green) of Elroy; step-grandchildren, Nyccole, Skylar and Jesse James Gibson; brother-in-law, Russell Preuss of Wonewoc; nieces and nephews; aunts, Jane Vlasak and Marcella Vlasak; and uncles, Adolph (Esther) Vlasak, and Kenneth (Arlene) Vlasak.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary Ann Preuss.

Memorial funeral services will

be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday,

Sept. 18, 2010, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in rural Elroy,

with Reverend Peter Snyder officiating.

Interment will be at St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery.

The Picha Funeral Home in Elroy assisted the family with arrangements.
