Lee Ella M Hale, of Mauston, passed away Oct. 31, 2017, at Crestview nursing home, she was 97.
She was born March 4, 1920, to Frank and Anna (Hagemann) Hale, in Mauston, the third youngest of four. Lee Ella worked at Mauston Bakery, the drug store for Doctor Hess and at Raabe’s Drug Store in Mauston. She was a proud member of Eastern Star and worked for many years as a volunteer at the Hess Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop as a director and charter member. Lee Ella was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church and cherished her time being part of all the activities. Her zest for life was contagious and she loved her card games. Lee Ella enjoyed travelling, volunteering and spending her time with friends. While Lee Ella did not have children of her own, her nieces and nephews became her devoted family and affectionately referred to her as Aunt-O-Lee.
Lee Ella is survived by her sister, Laura (Hale) Hemenway; nephews, Len (Pam) Hemenway of Watertown and Ben (Louise) Hemenway of New Lisbon; niece, Audrey (Hemenway) Kennett of Sarasota and Dale (Dianna) French of Arkansas; great-nieces, Chandra Carson and Jennifer (Nathan) Earhart; great-nephews, Kristopher (Kari) Hemenway and Chad (Jessica) Hemenway; six great-great nephews; and one great-great niece.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alma French; brother, William Hale; and great-nephews, Kirk Hemenway and Daryl French.
