Evelyn M. Hepp, 96, passed away peacefully
at Fairview Nursing Home, Mauston, on Thursday, March 18, 2010. She was born May 8, 1913, the daughter of Elmer and Nora Gardner of LaValle, Wis.
Evelyn graduated from Reedsburg High School and Sauk County Teacher Training program. She was a country school teacher at Plum Valley School, White Oak Grove School, Long View School and Valton, Wis., before she married Claire L. Hepp on May 31, 1941.
After travelling for one year in the South, Claire and Evelyn settled in Mauston where they operated a dairy and beef farm for many years. They co-owned and operated Hepp and Walsh Building Company; owned the Hepp Fertilizer Company, and took in pickles for the Bond Pickle Company. Evelyn was also employed by Newman Tire and Implement Dealer.
Evelyn enjoyed travelling, reading, fishing, dancing, quilting, crocheting and embroidery work. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the American Revolution. She will be sadly missed by family and by the many dear friends she has made in her lifetime.
Survivors include her children, Ronald (Nadine) Hepp of Princeton, Ill., Renee' (Fred) Gardehl of Mauston, and Rochelle (Kenneth) Miller of Bayfield, Wis.; grandchildren, Heather (Troy) Boesch of Loveland, Colo., Leslie (Larry) Lund of Princeton, Ill., Aaron (Robin) Hepp of Anna, Ill., Daren Gardehl of Mauston, Tiara DeLapp and Derrek DeLapp of Mauston, Michelle Miller of Denver, Colo., and Kathy Miller of Richmond, Va.; and great-grandchildren, Ben and Daniel Boesch of Loveland, Colo., and Chloe and Olivia Lund of Princeton, Ill.
Memorial services will be held at noon on Monday, March 22, 2010, at Peace Presbyterian Church in Mauston, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services. A luncheon will follow services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Order of the Eastern Star for scholarship funds.
