The Golden Eagles kicked off its season with a road loss to Reedsburg.

The Beavers (1-1-0) scored three times and kept Mauston (0-1-0) off the scoresheet on their way to a 3-0 win Tuesday, April 10 in Reedsburg. The Beavers opened their season with a 2-0 road loss to Madison Edgewood (1-0-0) Thursday, March 29.

For Reedsburg, Kayla Greenwood, Rylee Dorow and Julia Korklewski all tallied goals. Tina Anderson recorded two assists, while Cheyanne Grundahl assisted Greenwood’s opening goal. Ana Turner made 20 saves on the night for the Golden Eagles.

Despite the loss, Mauston head coach Greg Rowe was pleased with the progress his team made throughout the course of the game and looks forward to seeing how far along his team gets when they square off against Reedsburg again in their regular-season finale in late May.

“We improved a bunch as the game moved along,” Rowe said. “Glad we get to play them as our last game of the season. It will be a great pre/post test for our group.”

Mauston will play its second game on the road against Richland Center Thursday, April 12 at 5:00 p.m.
