JUNEAU – A 31-year-old former inmate at Waupun Correction Institution was charged with injuring a correction’s officer.
Demetrius M. Boyd, Wisconsin Secure Program Facility, was charged with battery by prisoners as a repeat offender.
According to the criminal complaint, Boyd was escorted to the showers on Nov. 27 when he refused to enter the shower cell he was shown to. Boyd told investigators later that he had previously been in altercations with the inmates in the shower cells next to the one he was taken to. Boyd asked to go back to his cell and was escorted back.
The complaint states that he turned toward the officer and began swearing. He resisted while officers attempted to remove his restraints. Once Boyd was in his cell, officers attempted to remove his final restraints. Boyd pulled one of the officer’s arm and hand through the trap on the door, causing lacerations and bruising.
According to the complaint, Boyd told detectives that the force the officers used against him was excessive and unnecessary and that he was the victim of the investigation.
He has previously been convicted of multiple counts of armed robbery and other crimes.
