The Sauk County Board race in the 6th District is too close to call after Tuesday’s election results show a one-vote difference.

David Allen and John Dietz are nearly tied for County Supervisor District 6. Official results won’t be known until Monday morning when all absentee ballots are counted. There are 18 absentee and one provisional ballot not yet included.

Total votes: 319

• David M. Allen: 158

• John S. Dietz: 159

• Write-in votes: 2

County Board Chairman Marty Krueger easily kept his District 10 seat.

Voters in District 11 elected Joe Fish of Reedsburg over incumbent Supervisor Peter Murray of Baraboo by a vote of 248 to 146.

“I think things went for what I think is the better of the board,” said Fish, a retired small business owner who currently serves as chair of the Excelsior Town Board. “I think we were seeing that what (Murray) was doing in board meetings people want to see changed. There’s no reason to prolong board meetings... The questions he was asking, there wasn’t too much good that came out of them.”

Murray, a retired financial executive with several businesses and organizations who was elected to the board in 2010, said he wishes Fish the best of luck.

“I hope he helps the county change and do some good things,” Murray said. “I think he’s got a tough job on his hands to deal with the town and county, and I hope he is up to working more than part-time on both.”
