A Portage man could face more than 100 years in prison after police said he sexually assaulted a girl in 2008 and again this month.

Amos R. Cartwright, 36, of Portage, was ordered held on $2,000 cash bail at a hearing July 19 in Columbia County Circuit Court.

Portage police say Cartwright fondled at 12-year-old girl in 2008 and two times in July when she was 17.

Cartwright could face as many as 115 years in prison as an initial penalty on six felony charges, including first-degree sexual assault of a child under age 13 and two counts of second-degree sexual assault.

Judge Daniel George said Cartwright is not to have contact with underage girls and is to stay sober.

The case is scheduled for a pretrial conference Aug. 19 and a court hearing Sept. 12.
