A 22-year-old Mayville woman has been named the 2013 Wisconsin Fairest of the Fair.

Steffani Koch, Mayville, was named the 2012 Dodge County Fairest of the Fair last August and served as the official host of the fair.

Koch is the daughter of Frank and Debra Koch. She is an alumna of Mayville FFA, and participated in the UW River Falls Dairy Club, pre-vet Club and Chancellor’s Student Ambassadors.

Koch became the 2013 Wisconsin Fairest of the Fairs on Wednesday at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells. More than 40 contestants, each the fairest of their county, competed for the title at the Wisconsin Association of Fairs annual convention.

Koch is a student in the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Veterinary Medicine.

She hopes to practice veterinary medicine focusing on the dairy industry. Koch enjoys exhibiting dairy cattle at state and international shows, playing volleyball, traveling and singing.

The term for the Fairest of the Fair is one year, but most of her duties will be performed between June 1 and Sept. 30. Koch must be available throughout the year for appearances, meetings and interviews.

Koch will travel to the fairs throughout the state this summer. She must send out letters to the county and district fairs to solicit appearances and arrange media interviews. She also will be the official host for the Wisconsin State Fair and perform media interviews throughout the state and northern Illinois.
