After helping clients with digital marketing strategies for 17 years, Bob Turner was excited to move his home-based business to downtown Columbus.
Web Wisconsin, 114 N. Ludington St., officially opened its office Nov. 1.
“We’ve never had a retail office location outside the home,” Turner said. “The business has kind of gotten to the point that in order for us to continue to grow, I need to do less of the account management and sales side of it.”
Turner recently hired a new account manager and is looking to bring on additional sales staff. Turner runs the business with his wife, Kat. The couple is from the Madison area, but decided they wanted a little slower pace and relocated to Columbus.
Web Wisconsin’s motto is “let’s put the internet to work for you.” The company helps businesses throughout southern Wisconsin improve their marketing outreach through the web. With internet marketing changing often, it can be difficult for small business owners to keep their websites, if they have a website, fresh and attractive. Through the past 17 years, Turner has enjoyed seeing his clients improve their businesses with help from Web Wisconsin.
“We can consider ourselves a digital marketing agency,” Turner said. “We don’t want to get trapped into being a website development company – we do that – but we do so much more than that.”
Besides helping build websites, Web Wisconsin can help businesses improve chances of being found on popular search engines like Google, Bing, Yelp, Siri and other platforms. In the coming weeks, the business plans to offer automation marketing to make it easier for companies to keep up on marketing trends. Web Wisconsin also does Facebook graphic design and marketing for businesses.
Turner is especially proud of a niche product, Order Our Food, designed to help consumers and businesses. He said the online food ordering service is similar to Eat Street and Grub Hub, but he believes it is more user-friendly.
“It is amazing,” Turner said. “It’s a really neat function.”
Order Our Food, which was branded earlier this year, allows consumers to order meals in a fast, efficient way. In addition, Turner said companies who use the service have seen online sales jump dramatically. He mentioned a restaurant in Janesville that improved its online sales from about 150 orders a month to more than 400. Users can also download an Order Our Food app on their smart phones. The service can be used for delivery or pick-up orders.
Turner showed examples of how he was able to transform a business website from an old, outdated model to a much more attractive site that often draws more costumers.
Web Wisconsin recently began working with Bombshell Hair Designs, a Columbus-based business. They expected to launch Bombshell’s new website earlier this week.
“It’s going to look great,” Turner said. “We help local businesses and that’s all we deal with. We don’t help big franchises. We like helping them succeed and just explode with more profits and customers. That’s our passion.”
While the business is expanding, Turner said he doesn’t want to lose “that local feel.” He plans to keep helping small, local businesses reach new heights through digital platforms.
