RANDOLPH — Only one name will appear on the ballot on April 2 for two open seats on the Randolph School Board – Craig Freitag.

Incumbents Gary DeVries and Jana Roberts opted not to seek another term in office.

Freitag has lived in Randolph for seven years and works as a sergeant for the Randolph Police Department. He volunteers as a coach for seventh and eighth grade football teams and serves as the assistant director of the youth football program, works as a D.A.R.E. officer, serves on the community development authority board and is an advisor for the Dodge County Explorers.

He is running for school board to help continue moving the school district forward.

“Our current board has done this and I hope I can assist with this goal,” Freitag wrote.

He feels the biggest challenge the Randolph School District faces are aging buildings and coming up with a fiscally responsible referendum.

“The school district does need to do something, but lets not build something we can’t afford in the future,” Freitag wrote.
