JUNEAU – A 40-year-old inmate at Waupun Correctional Institution was sentenced to an additional year of incarceration after injuring a corrections officer.

Andre Jones pleaded guilty to one count of battery by prisoner.

Judge Steven Bauer sentenced Jones to one year of incarceration and one year of extended supervision consecutive to the sentence he is currently serving.

The complaint states that while the correction’s officer was attempting to place handcuffs on Jones through a trap door in the cell door, Jones attempted to pull the officer’s hands through the trap, scraping and bruising the officer. Jones told detectives that it wasn’t intentional and he didn’t mean to hurt anyone.
