The Rev. Seth P. Dorn will be installed as the third associate pastor at St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Beaver Dam in a special worship service on Sunday at 4 p.m.

His father, the Rev. John Dorn of Oshkosh, will deliver the sermon. Pastors of area Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod churches will participate in the “laying on of hands,” a centuries-old custom in the church for giving biblical and brotherly encouragement for the future

Dorn, a native of Oshkosh, is a graduate of Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac, of Martin Luther College (New Ulm, Minn.) and 2008 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon. Since his graduation he has served as pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Dorn is married to Andrea (Leitz), a native of the Lansing, Mich., area. She also is a graduate of Martin Luther College, holding a bachelor of science degree in elementary education with an emphasis in mathematics. They have been blessed with three children, Ruth, Leah and Micah.

Dorn joins pastors Philip Heyer and Paul Stratman on the St. Stephen’s pastoral staff, replacing the Rev. Mark Wendland, who retired this past year. He will share in the preaching and teaching work, and will oversee the youth ministries, Sunday school and vacation Bible school.
